The Department of Music recently approached our office to redesign their admissions pamphlet for prospective students. We eagerly accepted the challenge.

Because this piece is outward-facing -- aimed at prospective undergraduate students who might be considering conservatories and other universities for their study of music -- I designed this piece with Yale's suite of other admissions materials in mind. I made note of the general "look and feel" of Yale College's viewbook (designed by Pentagram) and used typography and layout principles to create a piece that felt related but visually distinct.

I used proportional, numbered outlines of images to create a system of thumbnails and captions, as you can see in the spread above and the detail shot below.

We hope that this piece helps highlight the programs and resources that are unique to Yale's Department of Music.
