Introducing Mallory

April 22, 2016

We recently adopted Mallory as the recommended sans-serif companion to the Yale typeface for print use. Released in late 2015 by Frere-Jones Type, it synthesizes the formality of the British Gill Sans and the quirky organicity of American grotesque typefaces. These hybrid qualities create a distinct but harmonious counterpoint to Matthew Carter’s Aldine oldstyle, “Yale.” Mallory was designed by Tobias Frere-Jones, who has served on the Yale School of Art faculty since 1996, and it features a total of 8 weights and 26 styles.
