The exhibitions Uncommon Law and Reading English are on view at the Beinecke through December 15. Uncommon Law features objects from the Taussig Collection, while Reading English marks the 80th anniversary of the James Marshall and Marie-Louise Osborn Collection of English Literary and Historical Manuscripts.
Rebecca designed the accompanying promotional materials for both exhibitions, which include a flier for Uncommon Law and a catalogue and postcard for Reading English.
She selected a condensed Univers typeface—first introduced as an element of the Beinecke’s 50th anniversary “branding”—as well as Serifa, Yale’s go-to slab-serif, demonstrating again the flexibility of Yale’s branding system. The deep orange—although not a typical Yale color—references the campus’s foliage at this time of year and provides a warm backdrop for print and manuscript materials featured in the exhibitions.
